GESTURAL
Also known as 'action painting', gestural abstraction is a manner of painting in which the paint is spontaneously dribbled, dotted or smeared rather than being precise in its application. The artist is free to allow emotion to motivate the painting process in real time and the viewer is able to see the motion and activity of the artist in the finished work itself. Sales' deftness with a brush as well as with composition is highly evident in these works. |
